POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting with the operations of the CMIT clinical program including working with patients of all ages with various types of medical problems, assisting with scheduling, and performing other clinical office work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Assists with the care of patients undergoing PET imaging and radiotherapy procedures. Duties include data collection and scanning of patients forms and consents, assisting and managing patients during their time in the center, and assisting Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologists in the performance of their duties.
- Assists with clerical duties related to the functioning of the clinical program including electronic file management, sending and receiving data, reports, and images related to patient care, communicating and coordinating with physicians regarding patient care, reviewing medical data and referrals, and providing quality control over outgoing reports and image data.
- Performs patient scheduling as needed.
- Serves as medical receptionist as needed.
- Maintains and protects patient confidentiality and privacy as required by institutional HIPAA policies.
- Operates in accordance with the institutional radiation safety program by performing such actions as daily and weekly wipe tests, area surveys of the facility, maintaining adequate records, and operating within ALARA principles.
- Assists with clinical and basic research studies.
- Creates CD’s of patient scan data as requested by medical providers.
- Maintains compliance with CITI and GCP training as required for participation in research trials.
- Complies with required institutional directed training.
- Creates and updates Standard Operating Procedures as applicable.
- Maintains and orders adequate supplies necessary for patient exams.
- Orders clean linen as necessary.
- Arranges for the removal of bio-hazardous waste as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Two (2) years experience in a medical office/institution with direct patient care responsibilities/interactions required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or able to be certified. Experience in medical imaging a plus. Experience in molecular imaging highly valued. THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION WITH WORK GUARANTEED ONLY UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2024
